Review of Love & Mercy (2015) by Aaron D — 16 Jul 2015
Love and Mercy was a well made, dynamic film about the great Brian Wilson.
Just as The Beach Boys songs could evoke both the highs of love and the depths of sadness, so did the movie.
Everyone did their roles justice. Paul Dano and John Cusack showed the challenges of "invisible illness" such as overwhelm with both conviction and an appropriate subtlety. Elizabeth Banks was admirable and heartwarming in her role as both his love and protector. Paul Giamatti as Dr. Eugene Landy gives a chillingly convincing performance.
All in all, Love and Mercy makes you appreciate the man behind the music even more.
