Review of JCVD (2008) by Ken C — 21 Sep 2010
Van Damme dominates everything on screen not just with his fists but with his acting. It's kind of ironic because whenever Jean-Claude was in a movie before evrybody dismissed it only because of his acting but now in this movie he gives one of the best performances of the year.
When I first heard about this movie I thought it was gonna be like an Ed Wood type movie but it wasn't, at first I was dissapointed but then I started to realize how this isn't supposed to be a non fictional drama but instead a historical fiction dramedy.
This movie touches me every time it gets to the part where Jean-Claude gives that compelling speech infront of the camera. It also made me realize that Jean-Claude is actually not a bad actor as long as he just plays himself or a guy who is also a Belgium body builder.
Anyway, if you saw this movie ever sitting at your local video store but didn't rent it because it's a Van-Damme movie then you just mad the biggest mistake of your LIFE!!!!!!
