Review of Hello Herman (2012) by Patrick B — 25 Jul 2012
I recently watched a sneak peek of Hello Herman and really enjoyed it. It is about a young boy, Herman (played by Garrett Backstrom), who has a lot of problems at home and is bullied when he goes to school, which culminates into one terrible act of violence.
He is then interviewed by a progressive blogger, Lax (Norman Reedus), and they both have to face things that they have done in their past. The film is a moving portrayal of struggles that teens all over the world have to deal with everyday, and how it could affect the lives of everyone around them.
Michelle Danner brought this film to life and through her direction I felt connected to the characters. The way the film portrays Herman and how he gets to his breaking point, as well as after, is both creative and captivating.
