Review of Give 'em Hell, Malone (2009) by Jerry S — 02 Sep 2011
Not bad, but not great either. Tries to capture the Humphrey Boogart/Philip Marlowe feel, with a Sin City style, but ends up a poor imitation of both.
Plot could be out of the Raymond Chandler/Frank Miller playbook, but is less cohesive and plausible. After a while it just falls back on action.
Thomas Jane is reasonable in the lead role. Supporting cast - Ving Rhames, Elsa Pataky - are solid.
