Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Eric K — 25 Jul 2010
Whatta great film! I can never think of Roy Orbison songs in quite the same way after seeing this movie. :) (Candy-colored clown!) Sadistically twisted, but with enough humor to keep it from being gruesome.
Dennis Hopper's performance as the sadistic psychopath Frank Booth really puts this film over the top. Few film villans actually are able to frighten me, but Frank Booth really makes my skin crawl.
But, it's so disturbing that you almost have to laugh at it. If you crave strange and dark films, this certainly should be on your must watch list.
