Review of Blow-Up (1966) by Sarra M — 09 Jan 2008
Exceptional. It is truly hard to describe the experience of watching this film. Enthralling from the very first disorientating sequence. Has the mother of all set pieces at the middle of the film. It is as if Antonioni is laughing at us while we watch Thomas play with all his machines to generate suspense and confusion about the nature of what we are watching.
Itâ??s also incredible how much pleasure we get from watching a man at work. Photography is as enthralling as the mystery of the infamous last scene. Thomas may disappear but this film will never escape my mind.
