Review of Black Orpheus (1959) by Y?R E — 12 Dec 2007
"Tristeza nao tem fim... Felicidade sim...".
Wonderful movie, dwelling on the impossiblity of a pure love in a society far too violent.
The contrast between the wildness of the Rio's Carnival and the poetry of some more intimate moments, the urge to live fully your life even in the poorest parts of the city, I think Camus really caught the Brazilian Mood of the time, which later will be reminded in the musical genre called "Bossa Nova".
