Review of Zorba the Greek (1964) by Malin N — 31 Oct 2006
An englishman arrives at a greek island where he has inherited a mining company. He is befriended by big, noisy greek Aleksis Zorba and they become friends despite their clashing personalities. Zorba is a miner and can help the englishman with the mines.
There is also a parallell-story about patriarchs, a beautiful widow and honor-killings. A strong film! On the downside it has a lot of stereotypes in it, but hey, it was made over 40 years ago. Quinn as Zorba is wonderful!
