Review of Zootopia (2016) by Eric O — 16 Jul 2016
I had high hopes for Zootopia because of its complex world-building and clever gags in the trailers. But not only were my expectations met; they were succeeded. Zootopia is clearly on track to be my favorite movie of 2016 because aside from being a funny and adorable Disney movie, it's also surprisingly dark and has mature themes that stand-out in today's age, from bullying not judging books by their covers to themes on racism and feminism. The characters and plot are well crafted and the mystery - as well as the motives - are complex and had me guessing. The outcome, actually, genuinely surprised me. Most interestingly, the movie had moments that hit the feels, and not just because they were emotionally sad moments, but they were real moments that I know happen in our real world.
It's a must-see for all ages.
