Review of Zoo (2007) by Louis D — 09 Jan 2008
A vague and surprisingly reserved documentary supposedly about zoophiles; though through the first half you wouldn't have any idea, its only hinted at in the fragmented monologues, until some guy talks about how warm his horses balls are.
Naturally names are omitted and supplemented by nicknames, but as they fail to even mention nicknames in the monologues, opting to refer to everyone as "he", relating to anyone in this film is difficult and frustrating.
The last half is more focused, though not so much on zoophiles themselves as on a particular incident involving a death and the groups subsequent exposure. I would have liked to see some history, some details of their activities, even some starbuck's-psychoanalysis, ruminations from bearded experts.
.. all are absent. Still, it's neat subject matter and confusing ethics. Oh yeah, the dramatization looks like ass.
