Review of Zombie Honeymoon (2004) by Adam K — 11 May 2008
It's usually a disaster when a movie with a ridiculous comic premise decides to take itself completely seriously - but there are rare cases when it actually works. Rather than going the cheesy horror route, this zombie film is a surprisingly moving love story that's loosely based on the marriage of the director's sister and brother-in-law and uses zombieism as a metaphor for drug addiction; even though her husband is morphing into the living dead, his loyal wife still stands by him and tries to help him beat the disease.
A strong lead performance by unknown actress Tracy Coogan helps anchor the film and raise it above its low-budget limitations.
