Review of Zodiac (2007) by Prajwal K — 30 Nov 2012
This three-hour long, nerve-racking thriller tells the true-story about the most perplexing series of murders that remains unsolved, till date. The director, David Fincher has virtuously told the story with the help of an instrumental cast.
Mark Ruffalo and Jake Gyllenhaal deserve a special mention, as for Robert Downey Jr, it was not the role he is good at playing. Fincher has not only depicted the macabre details of the murders piece-by-piece but has also painstakingly replicated the ambiance of 70s which is bound to deceive you and you'll be like-"No, this movie wasn't made in the 21st Century!".
It maybe really stretched-out, but throughout the runtime you'll be enthralled and literally, be at the edge of your seats. Credit goes to the screenwriter, but more importantly, to the book from which it was adapted.
Now, the thing with a true story is it doesn't have some unprecedented twist right at the end, where things fall into place and the story concludes leaving everyone satisfied. So, the audience will be robbed off some substantial conclusion at the end, but heck, even the police and detectives haven't cracked the case till date.
Consequently, which ends up fostering a sense of respect for the murderer, for his sinister flair(or is it just me?).
