Review of Zodiac (2007) by Peter F — 18 Aug 2013
A very distant cousin to Seven, as Zodiac is hardly a serial killer thriller. Fincher is finished with showcasing violent scenes before the first half-hour is done, and instead frames the Zodiac case as a portrait of one man's obsession and devotion to the puzzle.
Often terrifying and tense, and it's another showcase of how Fincher is one of the few director's in Hollywood that can use CGI in a way that actually enhances a film's mood. Could of used some better editing, however, as at two-and-a-half hours it's quite a bit longer than it needs to be.
