Review of Zero Effect (1998) by Lee M — 03 Oct 2007
This was something of a sleeper when it came out. My girlfriend at the time called it her favorite "Sherlock Holmes", and in a sense, it was - because Zero Effect is really Sherlock Holmes updated.
The main character takes heavy drugs, is a manic-depressive, plays a musical instrument (badly) and makes the life of his right hand man a nightmare; but he's brilliant at what he does. The cast is awesome and it's a lot of fun to watch as they all collide like trains (trains filled with diamonds and donuts).
