Review of Zero Dark Thirty (2012) by Crusader . — 13 Feb 2014
Good companion to this movie would be Mark Owen's book "No Easy Day," which focuses more intimately on the entire mission to take out Bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty spends more time on the tedious history of events which lead to his capture, so the perspective is different.
A plus of Zero Dark Thirty is that the brash female government employee responsible for not taking "no" for an answer and is the main person responsible for finding and getting bin Laden captured dominates the film. She deserves it because her hard work really paid off and she obviously was dealing with a male-dominated workforce, so I can't imagine how she was able to tolerate that.
This movie was disappointing in places, even though the acting and special effects were excellent. It just didn't give me the same adrenaline fix that Mark Owen's book did (so be sure to read the book). Zero Dark Thirty was way too long, boring in places, and really seemed to drag on; which never makes for an excellent movie, no matter the subject!
