Review of Zeitgeist: The Movie (2007) by Michael S — 05 Nov 2008
I agree with the main thrust of this movie.
However I have never seen such a sloppy, dumb approach to this serious range of subjects.
From the beginning the lack of research is obvious.
I have been anti organised religion most of my life ... so I know quite a lot about religions. This is the natural way. The film makes so many basic mistakes.
1/ BECAUSE IT DOESN'T CHECK ITS SOURCES.
2/ BECAUSE IT ONLY CARES ABOUT SOURCES THAT SUPPORT ITS ARGUMENT EVEN IF THEY ARE LAUGHABLY WRONG.
It was once said "know thy enemy".
This film does such a bad job with even basic facts that it will fail all the viewers that are giving it a high rank.
Because it doesn't give them any real ammunition. I hope it functions to get people interested in the subject and do some real research and reading of their own.
I would probably recommend that anyone giving it over 7 stars for the intellectual content does some more work on their own studies and read a bit more widely ... or read SOMETHING from other sources about these subjects.
The two stars are for the hope that it will inspire people to do their own study into these interesting areas.
