Review of Zatoichi: Darkness Is His Ally (1989) by Joanna M — 23 Apr 2008
The film I'm referring to is the 1989 one starring the amazing Shintaro Katsu. Although markedly older in this, his final Zatoichi film, he has not lost his touch (a little grey hair never hurt anyone :P).
With the title "Darkness is His Ally", this film had great expectations; and with Shintaro playing the lovable, blind, masseur/swordsman, who wouldn't love this movie.
