Review of Zabriskie Point (1970) by Ryan M — 21 Jan 2010
It could have been a great film, but Antonioni didn't think his ideas all the way through with this one. Taking a look at two alienated youths; Mark who is on the run from the Police and Daria who's on her way to Phoenix for a conference.
It touches on american consumerism + all sorts of anti-american themes, but by only touching ob them instead of exploring it comes across as half-hearted, overlong and self-indulgent with the two major scenes of the film (the orgy in the desert + the odd finale) both coming across as very very weird.
There are some nice shots and decent acting in there with a pretty nice soundtrack, but overall this is a very strange film.
