Review of Z (1969) by Eric C — 27 Mar 2008
One of the most "entertaining" movies I've seen in a long time. I say that only because my personal preference would have normally encouraged me to push this movie harder. It's really a quality story (The real one's always translate well to film.
) By virtue of this being a quality story it is also a quality film. How do you craft a successful thriller with a menacing "PG" rating. I would never have thought it possible. More than anything else it's a smart movie with historical significance.
I could talk about the actors individualy but that would require a prior knowledge of french acting. We'll call it a brilliant collective cast performance. That's fair. More than fair is the remarkable abilities of director Costa Gavras.
A reel shoking tid bit: The movie has the shortest title in film history (Tied of course with every other film with a one letter title ever created.).
