Review of Z (1969) by George R — 21 Mar 2009
My love affair with New York City continues with the opportunity to see Z at the theatre in 2009. The characters are all so fantastically directed, juicily developed, and so well-honed that at each cut, I was happy to see each person again, whether they were hilarious, deranged, doggedly determined and serious, awkward, uncertain, glamorous, sly, inept, etc.
The story itself is gripping and the cinematography is spot-on, its style changing depending on the point of view of each witness to each "incident" (not "murder"). I don't usually go for political thrillers or murder mysteries, but that's because they are rarely as awesome as this.
