Review of You've Got Mail (1998) by Catherine K — 11 Apr 2010
Capsule review from a while ago:
A remake of the 1940 Shop Around the Corner, starring Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan, You've Got Mail stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan as two rivals unaware that they're actually e-mailing and falling in love with each other. Ryan plays the owner of, what else, Shop Around the Corner, a children's bookstore. Hanks plays heir to the Fox Books fortune, a bookstore chain much like Barnes & Noble and Borders. Hanks and Ryan have good chemistry in a follow-up to their romantic comedy classic Sleepless in Seattle. Not the best romantic comedy - but not the worst either.
