Review of You've Got Mail (1998) by Dr. F P — 09 Jan 2014
I think I enjoyed this mostly because I could indulge in a fantasy of owning my own little book store whilst the movie went on. I don't care if Tom Hanks sets up shop around the corner either and I wouldn't close down until I got kicked out Meg Ryan! Besides that I read a story very similar to this, except the book store was an occult book store and there was more coffee involved.
Anyway, I watched as a romance, there was NO comedy, who the HELL called it a COMEDY? You can tell what's going to happen right from the beginning, as it plays out you have to wonder if Kathleen is a little wrong in the head but even so I loved watching this, I was engrossed, isn't that strange? No not really, knowing my track record.
I'm not sure i'll watch this again any time soon, and it's running length is a little longer than usual, especially considering the subject matter doesn't take all that much explaining.
It's contrived, but I liked it.
