Review of Youth (2015) by Pat B — 31 Dec 2015
Youth is a film of quiet beauty. It is thoughtful, careful and emotionally engaging. It is also full of strange moments and awkward thrusts. Nothing much happens but this is a contemplative film, one to immerse yourself in.
Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel are wonderful as two old friends who meet again in an exclusive Swiss alpine hotel. They are successful artists who are at the wrong end of the creative journey. A series of happenings give them time to reflect and ponder on that journey.
This film will dazzle in a quiet way and if you let it work it will give you emotional clarity.
