YOUTH: Review by Jules.
An exquisite masterpiece. I'd have to watch many more times to completely word this film in the way it deserves but for now I will simply speak from my gut and not a logical place. Michael Caine's best and most in depth I have ever seen him in his career of more than 10,000 movies ( yes exaggerated) Beautiful, Poignant view of the innocence and hopefulness of youth and the wisdom of those that came before us but so much deeper than that little sentence. Love lost, regret, despair, desperation and desire. Desire. Each journey grasping for the why of it all- Harvey Keitel was just earth shattering in his performance. Each scene was as picturesque and ethereal, full of emotion and meaning than the next. Jane Fonda was just a beast of an actress in this movie- so specific in her intent to deliver a most honest portrayal of a Hollywood actress that is well beyond her time. I loved seeing the real Jane Fonda come through with a vengeance in her epic scene with Harvey. I cannot say enough about this film and so I will keep this as broad and vague as I can so you can go and capture all the gems within this film. Good God this was beautiful. Nuff said:).
