Review of Youth (2015) by Anita M — 12 Mar 2016
I like Paolo Sorrentino's films. They're very European, which to me means they're not afraid to be philosophical, they divert and digress and often when you're watching, you've no idea how they'll finish.
All of which are good things, in my book. This film has a fine performance from Michael Caine (although he didn't really convince me as a conductor). is stunningly beautiful, has added Rachel Weisz and made me cry.
Just don't expect a 3 act structure (though the hero does "go on a journey").
