Review of Youth (2015) by Phil D — 13 Jun 2016
Youth is about getting stuck, about finding the emotional keys to moving ahead again, to finding Youth, no matter what your age. Youth triumphs by combining so many master actors, the high Alpine scenery, the heartening message of love and emotional freedom with composer David Lang's powerful and penetrating music.
With so many disruptively beautiful scenes, the film is visually breathtaking. Youth's real star, here, is Lang, whose emotional compositions, deeply integrated into the film's storyline, cut with depth that I haven't felt in a movie in years.
