Review of You're Next (2013) by Josh K — 04 Feb 2014

I know that there was a lot of praise for this film, but I didn't really think highly of it. The premise is interesting, while it appears heavily like an independent film, but the end result seems a little shoddy.

The film follows a large family who gets together during the summer and are than suddenly attacked by three killers wearing animal masks. Throughout much of the film there is gore and screaming. The music is effective (at times feeling like a 1970s horror film), while the cinematography is interesting.

At times the family gets to be a little uninteresting since they constantly yell, while some of the twists seems unnecessary. In the end it seems that the film could have had a better handling with what it was trying to put forward.
