Review of You're Next (2013) by Patrick S — 20 Mar 2015
I'm not sure what movie everyone was watching?! This movie was pretty awful. The acting was bad, the writing was bad, the storyline was almost nonexistent. There was no character development. I had little to no attachment to any of the characters, except that I generally hated them all and couldn't wait to see them suffer a most horrific death.
I don't know which character I hated more, the overly dramatic mother figure, who cried and ran away at every little sound or the over pretentiousness brother, who was way too full of himself?! The only saving scenes of this movie were the death scenes (by the main female character, not the invaders) and the couple boob shots.
Other than that, it was a total ripoff of a few other movies. Most notably ripping off, Strangers. Then there was the "safe proofing" of the house, Home Alone style. I was waiting for the girl to attach a hot wire to the door handle.
Don't waste your time. There are much better movies to invest in, that are in the same "home invasion" style.
