Review of Your Sister's Sister (2011) by Dave C — 10 Nov 2012
A fantastic indie film that catches you off guard in just how it pulls you in to it it's unconventional love story. The story moves through three central characters, and as it does it manages to become more and more insane as it goes.
It has an undeniable charm to it's sort of carefree and improvised style that lends a sort of realism to the characters that makes them forever watchable. There is nothing flashy here, just straight up dialogue, layed back characters and a loose handed style.
And it all works wonderfully as the story navigates the journey of unconventional love, self discovery, and family bonds. Emily Blunt is fantastic and captivating, but Rosemarie DeWitt actually weighs in with a understated performance that takes you by surprise.
And Mark Duplass is equally good in the roll of Jack as well. (as a warning, be aware the film contains quite a bit of language).
