(2012) Your Sister's Sister.
DRAMA/ COMEDY.
The scenario is like what one can find from a soap opera with the only difference is that this particular scenario only centers on three people, and that many of the dialogue exchanges has many four letter words spoken freely(mostly the f-word) to one another like it's forced like none of the characters don't know anyone who have any kids despite them being mature adults. Executive produced, written and directed by Lynn Shelton centering on an 'awkward' situation starring Mark Duplass as Jack who has just lost his brother. We don't know too much about Jack's background except that him along with a small group of his dead brother's closest friends are sharing condolences amongst each other- a scene taken out of "The Big Chill". Jack's brother's ex girlfriend, Iris (Emily Blunt) then suggests him to go to spend some quality time to her old isolated childhood housing resort which is located on some island next to Seattle to get over his brother's death. Upon going over their, he unknowingly bumps into Iris's older sister Hannah played by Rosemarie DeWitt who happens to be staying in the same housing resort thought to be empty. And as it turns out Hannah has just gotten out of a bad relationship herself. Both Jack and Hannah then get into a one night stand until Iris shows up unexpectedly who we find out later Iris's real intentions to send Jack over their was to hook up with him. At this point, viewers are going to expect Iris to find out about this so called one night stand which is obviously going to send a rift between the two sisters, as well as an uncomforting situation for Jack since viewers are also going to expect 'more' revelations regarding Hannah's real motivations regarding her one night stand with Jack.
As I've mentioned earlier, I personally never felt the dialogue exchanges were authentic since four letter words in every conversation is supposed to be natural when in actual reality the only time people do swear is because they're angry or something has gotten someone mad, for they're not even gangsters but are supposed to be just regular people like you and me. I can't relate to any adults if they're speaking with many four letter words as a general conversation for it sometimes sounds uncomfortable, as well as unrealistic especially upon conversing with the actual world. This movie is only intended for critics who are able to adjust to these character's world, but the one that I live in it's much more respectable and civilized than this- in the verbal sense that is.
2 out of 4 stars.
