For the first few minutes I did wonder if this was just going to be a typical comedic gender swap Anime, fortunately Your Name is much more than that and builds to be something memorable. The animation is so beautiful and detailed, the score is wonderful and once the story really kicks in the script subtly shifts in tone from comedy/drama to melancholy.
There's some obvious parallels at work here, male/female city/country but they are handled subtly and mostly tend to avoid predictability. Ultimately you'd have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by this.
