Review of Your Name. (2016) by Emma H — 13 Aug 2017
This is probably going to be my longest review ever, because I have so much to say about this beautiful piece of art. I had heard of this movie when it originally came out in 2016 and I wanted to see it, but I didn't think there would be a way.
On the 7th, I found it was coming to America and I was overjoyed. I ended up seeing it yesterday, as of writing this.(Edit:Yesterday being the 8th, because I forgot I had this account. Wow I'm professional) I went to see it with my dad, who isn't a big fan of anime, but he was willing to see it.
And we'll, was it worth it? You're god damn right it was worth it. Makoto Shinkai has made what I consider to be his masterpiece. Your Name (or Kimi no na Wa) is a body swap/time travel story about two strangers, who wake up in the others body.
The changes happen randomly, but it is done to help the other improve there lives. First let's start with the animation. It's beautiful. The background look so like the real ones, it's like they took an actual film and animated over it.
The character design is also fantastic. The story was beautiful. It made me laugh, cry, get scared, feel angry, made me feel... how to say it in a way that probably won't get banned? I can't XD.
There were twists in it that made it feel like a M. night Shaymalan film, and it was awesome. Your name is a beautiful, mature, heartwarming film that everyone, no matter your age, or what you like, should see at least once in their lives.
