Review of Your Name. (2016) by Nandan T — 06 May 2017
Every guy has wondered how life would be, if he would've been born a girl.
Every girl has wondered how life would be, if she would've been born a guy.
'Your Name' gives us a peek into this subject with a bit of body-swapping storyline.
Though it is not the subject or core message of the film, I appreciate this about the film.
I like how Japan is still sticking to hand drawn animation and not like Disney's CGI animation, though both are wonderful. The animation is gorgeous, colourful, rich and vibrant. This is one of the best animated films I've ever seen.
The story, although having some fantasy elements to it, is original and well-thought. The message can be a little heavy-handed and the film can be confusing at times because of the complex subjects it deals with like time etc.
This film may not be for everyone and different people will interpret the message in different ways.
See this if you like animation. It touches your heart, which is such a rare thing with films these days.
Highly Recommended!
