Review of Your Highness (2010) by Tom B — 01 Dec 2011
This is your humourless, poor man's (Monty) Python. Rubbish American teen MTV medieval comedy.
This is a daft tale, of two brothers and sons of the king, competing to complete a quest to save their Kingdom. YH is a camp, lame dog with an ok idea buried inside it, playing on the popularity of Games of Thrones/LOTR genre eras.
It has a virgin, a warlock, magic, a cyclops, royalty and stoner like quips, amidst modern swearing. James Franco is awful, heading up a good cast who fail to impress due to the script and plot. The acting does not improve past Simon the mechanical bird's!
It looks like it had a decent budget too (with 2 current stars with Portman and Franco) and some nice visual scenes, such as the ludicrous quest's battle versus Matitti, the hand beast.
So in conclusion, another painful bro-mance, including a sex pest wise wizard, need I say more. Immature teens will surely hail it as a cult laugh, but the rest of us will laugh at ourselves for wasting time on it.
