Review of Young Winston (1972) by Ken T — 20 Jun 2011
This is a strange epic biopic, in that it respects the subject, but also revels in the ironic touch. While not a great film, in part due to some spotty narration, I enjoyed its depth and willingness to treat its subject in an unheroic, but admirable way.
As usual, Robert Shaw was excellent and Jack Hawkins is good even when he doesn't have a line of dialogue.
