Review of Young and Innocent (1937) by Gavin P — 14 Jul 2016
Not a bad early Hitchcock 'man on the run trying to prove his innocence' thriller, but definitely done better in other films, including 'Saboteur' and obviously, ' The Fugitive'.
Pilbeam is good as the 'young' Erica who falls for Robert (De Marney), the 'innocent'. She helps him avoid the police, including her father, the commissioner (Marmont) long enough to track down the real murder - who conveniently just confesses.
Why were the band at the end all in blackface? Is that just because it was Britain in 1937? Anyway, a decent film, but not terribly dramatic or exciting.
