Review of Young and Innocent (1937) by Matt C — 22 Feb 2018
A well-known actress is murdered and a young American acquaintance of her's is blamed when he discovers the body. Things look bad for him, so he escapes police custody in search of a key bit of evidence that could prove his innocence.
He teams up with the daughter of a local police inspector, who gradually comes to believe in his innocence. Hitchcock essentially reproduces "The 39 Steps" with younger characters and a lighter comic touch, and it ends up being pretty damn good.
