A critique of urban or rural practices, I can' tell. But for sure, Charlize Theron (whose Mavis Gary is in the middle) gives an impressive performance as the monster ex back with a vengeance. It's way deeper than what it looks: this is us going back to a time and to a place we despised yet honestly wish we still have.
Diablo Cody belongs to that generation and she wrote a beautiful and insightful story about their current situation.
