Theron is magnificantly repulsive in this. The one problem is, and unfortunately it ruins the film, that her characters doesn't undergo any change. She is as stupid at the end as she is in the beginning, leaving her life in greater ruins that where she began.

I can see the director's point with this if there was some kind of twist to it, but there's isn't.... So the first half is a great start but then it doesn't go anywhere. Sad...
