Young Adult is an interesting film to rate. This dramedy stars Charlize Theron as a divorced writer of a young adult series that's on the cusp of its final entry. Soon, she learns that an ex-boyfriend from high school and early college has just had a baby with his wife and she's received an invitation to meet the baby.

Seeing this as a sign that her old boyfriend isn't happy with his new life, she heads back to her hometown to see if she can win him back. However, she soon realizes, while she's writing her book during the events of the film, that the term "Young Adult" has a double meaning, relating to her childishness.

I felt that Young Adult was an interesting little film. The main problem with it was that it was a bit too drab for my taste. I understand the character is supposed be depressed and an alcoholic, but the director and writer seem to make it stand out too much.

Theron's performance is very impressive and I enjoyed all of the other actors as well. In the end, however, Young Adult will end up to be a film that will be forgotten in about a week or so.
