Review of Young Adult (2011) by Mark K — 01 Jun 2013
Young Adult was basically a movie about determination and confidence in an oddly comedic sense. But I just felt that the movie never really got you anywhere, it never really excited you and it never really made you want to see how the whole story would end. Instead the movie was basically just a long wait until it would all be finished.
I found the movie and the characters a tad unrealistic and I felt like I couldn't really relate to them. In fact I was mainly just really mad at Charlize Theron's character for being so narcissistic and thinking that you can break up a marriage that easily. The truth is, that would even have been a good thing if it in some way had made you use your aggressions whilst watching. But it didn't. Instead you were hoping for it all to end and 90 minutes just happened to feel a bit too long.
