Review of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) by Caleb M — 29 Oct 2010
Woody Allen usually manages to turn his "life is meaningless" outlook into something witty, funny and interesting. You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger has some beautiful people and looks pleasant enough, but Allen gives them nothing more to do and say than complain about life and love.
Of all the performers here, Gemma Jones manages to stand out as someone who believes in something. She believes in a fraud, but it gives her hope. In the end, she's the only one out of our four protagonists (Jones, Brolin, Watts & Hopkins) who finds some semblance of peace and happiness.
