Review of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) by Lata G — 26 Feb 2011
Interesting, quirky movie about a dysfunctional family centered around the daughter played by Naomi Watts. Her parents divorce and her father gets fleeced by a much younger woman whom he marries. Her mother copes by attending sessions with a psychic.
She meets a widower who is equally eccentric. Naomi's marriage to her writer-husband is also unraveling. Her husband has one hit book followed by series of flops. He eventuallyb steals his friend's book thinking the poor guy has died in an accident.
When he later learns that the guy is in a coma and might emerge he is dumbfounded and afraid. He also falls for the beautiful music student across the street. Naomi develops a crush on her boss but learns that he does not reciprocate her feeelings.
She moves on and tries to borrow money from her mother to start her own gallery but is told by her mom that it is not a good time for a loan as her psychic thinks it will bring bad luck....hilarious!
