Review of You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010) by Andrew R — 07 Feb 2011
Destroy the institution of marriage, violate the precepts of sanity, and maintain the inherent disillusion of the human condition - these are all goals of Woody Allen's foray into the socially-constructed idea of the monogamous, love-laden relationship.
The question of whether or not this social condition is right or wrong is usually approached from an empirical standpoint; the determination of whether or not happiness can be achieved through such relational means has been scientifically tested.
Sorry. But Allen takes another viewpoint - the utmost prominence of the fluid emotionality that surrounds these matters. In that sense, he's only achieved what he always has; and redundancy aside, it's a brilliant violation of what we all agree on.
