Review of You Were Never Really Here (2017) by Rick C — 27 Jun 2018
This movie starts where Taxi driver ends.
There are not so many movies 90' long enough brave to engage you from the beginning to the end.
The music theme beat keeps you wondering what the tormented Joaquin Phoenix will do next.
In the actor's most intense facial expression the bowed instruments are mixed with the rail squeals creating a sense of vertigo.
This picture wants to torment you with fast paced flashbacks and Kubrickian horror visions.
I unexpectedly enjoyed this rollercoaster very much.
