Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Charles R — 02 Jul 2013
Fun Fact: this campy Bond script was brought to you in part by Roald Dahl! My guess is it was his ultimate decision to unveil one of the Bond franchise's most notable (and comically mined) villains -- the sinister, deformed, cat-clutching, Nazi's Nazi "Ernst Stavros Blofeld" (played by Donald Pleasance, who went on to Halloween bad-assery) who leads the world in dormant volcano interior decoration.
Unfortunately, he only gets one truly diabolical scene and nothing more, has nothing but one semi-competent henchman, and never really gives Bond a reason to sweat. Overall, there are twists and turns and ethnic stereotypes galore in YOLT, but unfortunately, they're overshadowed to no end by the cheesy graphics, meandering plot, and an underutilized villain with a pretty lame plan.
.. c'mon, rocket-napping? Seriously? 3/5 What time Ernst does have on screen is a goldmine ("The firing power within my crater is enough to annihilate a small army...*sneer*), giving what is mostly forgettably fun and cheesy fare another full star-shaped popcorn bucket.
