Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Charles R — 11 Dec 2015
Just saw this with my dad, who has been to sea throughout his lifetime. We both loved it! It seemed very authentic, with recreated whaling ships and boats; and even though parts of it must have involved CGI, the film never had the feeling of unreality.
Instead, everyone appeared grounded in the reality of what 19th-century whaling was about; and even while one may sympathize with the whales, it's hard to repress the feeling of doom while being stalked by a 'demon' whale.
A very satisfying story, and very good acting by Chris Hemsworth, Brenda Gleeson, and others involved.
