Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Emmanuel S — 16 Sep 2013
So most Bond fans know that by this stage, Sean Connery was getting pretty bored with playing the same character. He was offered an insuperable amount of money, and so decided to stay on one last time.
And while his heart may not have been entirely in its production, 'You Only Live Twice' still stands as a decent - if not great - Bond adventure. It has all the usual gimmicks, ranging from Q-Branch's quirky gadgets (notably 'Little Nellie'), to the unrealistic and cartoonish villain, who feeds his failing accomplices to piranhas ( .
.. just because he can). While the action sequences and general storyline aren't particularly memorable, they are delivered competently enough. And with the addition of exotic Japanese locales, the film is basically just a familiar but enjoyable slice of the same old cake.
