Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Douglas L — 10 Nov 2012
Scripted by darkly comedic children's writer Roald Dahl, the plot is ludicrous and trite (Connery basically shaves his chest hair and darkens his auburn locks to "become" Japanese), and the climax is messy.
However, this is the installment in which we finally come face-to-face with the until now unseen head of SPECTRE, Ernst Stavro Blofeld (played here with cold sinisterity by Donald Pleasence), and this memorable introduction alone is enough to salvage the film around, as well as practically launch the Austin Powers series.
