Review of You Only Live Twice (2007) by Steve B — 23 Nov 2012
It's now 1967 and this movie is released. Slowly you can see each Bond movie gets better and bigger as the budget increases and the dollars roll in. This movie boasts a huge, spectacular set dubbing a secret volcano base.
All the scenes on this set feature the 007 villian cliche's, also spoofed in the 'Austin Powers' movies, lots of henchmen in coloured boiler suits racing around and looking busy, control panels and screens, monorails, transport and transit vehicles and a hidden villian in a chair with a cat.
Bringing the action to Japan is a little different for a Bond movie and seeing him in a kamono even more, but he hooks up with Tanaka and his ninjas in order to aid him in his latest mission. The theme tune is where singer Robbie Williams borrows the 'hook' or 'riff' from for his track, 'Millenium' and this plot also features the nippy "Little Nellie" in a scene not really needed and meant to just show it off and every gadget on it.
